As you know, ICAN carbon wheels offer a wide range of products, from around 40,000 yen to over 100,000 yen. Roughly speaking, they are categorized into five series. We hope this information on the features of each series and what differentiates them will be helpful.

• If your budget is around 30,000 yen, aluminum wheels are recommended over carbon wheels.

If your budget is around 30,000 yen, we recommend a good quality aluminum wheelset.

You might be able to find a carbon wheelset for around 30,000 yen, but ICAN does not offer wheelsets below 30,000 yen. Carbon wheels in this price range often have issues with quality and warranty, which is why we cannot recommend them.

• If your budget is 40,000 to 50,000 yen, classic series carbon wheels are recommended.

The Classic series is a carbon wheelset combining J-bend hubs and aero blade spokes. While we call them classic wheelsets, both the hubs and spokes are made in Taiwan. We can provide rim compatibility depending on the tire type, handling various rim specifications such as tubular, clincher, tubeless, and clincher/tubeless compatible.

• If your budget is around 60,000 yen, FL series carbon wheels are recommended.

The F (fast) L (light) series is our flagship product lineup from 2018, designed for speed and lightness (FL). Widening the rim to 25mm has achieved both stability and increased speed. While this might seem counterintuitive, wider tires at lower pressure have less rolling resistance and less tire deflection, allowing them to roll straighter. Furthermore, in 2019, we made several improvements to these FL series wheels, upgrading the brake track to withstand 240° to 300°, improving the bearings, and adding anti-slip strips to the freebody, making the FL series wheelsets much more durable.

• If your budget is 70,000 to 80,000 yen, AERO series carbon wheels are recommended.

If aerodynamics are your top priority, the ultra-lightweight AERO series is the perfect choice.

 Aero series wheels are an upgraded model based on the FL series, aiming for even lighter weight. They possess all the qualities of the FL series (strength, rigidity, aerodynamics) but are about 100g lighter than FL series wheels. This weight reduction was achieved by using top-grade Toray T700 and T800 carbon fiber, along with ultra-lightweight R01 hubs and high-rigidity Sapim Cx-ray spokes (18 in the front, 24 in the rear). Additionally, the brake track was upgraded to a 3K carbon brake track, capable of withstanding 300°, improving brake heat resistance.

• If your budget is 90,000 to over 100,000 yen, DT series carbon wheels are recommended.

Wheelsets with DT hubs are worth it! DT is a well-known brand, and their hubs are arguably the best in the cycling industry for their excellent quality and high performance. Our DT series wheels combine DT hubs with Sapim Cx-ray spokes, offering a super lightweight and cost-effective model. Owning a DT series wheel will make long-distance rides more comfortable and help you achieve your training goals.

Of course, if you have a sufficient budget, it might be better to directly purchase a wheelset from a famous brand like Mavic. But if you're carefully budgeting, why not try Chinese carbon wheels? Some customers might worry about the quality of Chinese wheels, but you're well aware that many niche and major brand wheelsets are also OEM products from China!
